Meet Declan! He’s 8 years old, in 3rd grade, and brings so much joy everywhere he goes. Declan was born with Down syndrome and later diagnosed with autism, but those are just small pieces of his story. What really shines through is his big personality, his love of dancing, and his excitement for Disney movies—especially when he can sing and act along with the characters.
Declan is so excited to be part of this year’s Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk! For him, it’s not just about walking—it’s about celebrating who he is, raising awareness, and supporting all the amazing individuals in our community with Down syndrome.
HADSA (Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association) has been a huge support for our family, offering resources, encouragement, and opportunities to connect with others on this journey. By raising donations, Declan is helping HADSA continue their mission of uplifting families and spreading awareness about the value and potential of every person with Down syndrome.
Declan may be young, but his heart is big. He’s walking proudly—not only for himself, but for all his friends with Down syndrome. Every step he takes is a reminder that every life is worth celebrating.
Thank you for supporting Declan and cheering him on as he walks for awareness, acceptance, and love!
Step up with us on September 28th for the Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association's Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk at the Cherry Hill Park in Cedar Rapids.
The day will be filled with family fun events including food, music, team pictures, and much more!
Families in the area blessed by Down Syndrome are encouraged to start their own fundraising page, while registering to walk for their favorite team. This can all be done through the registration process.
Prizes for the largest walk team and the team raising the most money will be awarded.
Funds raised will be used to support our mission as well as our grant/scholarship projects!
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you on September 28th!
